 Jill Karkella, Willow Waves Art

I am a multi-media artist based in Philadelphia, PA. I specialize in watercolors depicting the natural world and the music of the Grateful Dead and others. My style manifests itself in abstract and psychedelic designs with a hint of realism and unique colors. I started out designing jewelry, and in 2011, began exploring visual art through illustration using art markers, pen, and colored pencils. Music has always been an integral part of my life, and my earliest work began as depictions of the music of the Grateful Dead. As I evolved artistically, I found added inspiration from the natural world and my love of animals and nature. My work is a fusion of both the energy, vibration, rhythm, and stories of music and the peace and serenity of nature. In my art you will find whimsy and joy as I honor my connection with the universe. My artwork is meant to create happiness and bring color and light into people’s worlds. Currently, I am working on a collection of designs for apparel inspired by the music of the Grateful Dead.
